Lonnie Cox was the organizer and promoter of checkers out of Mooresville, NC, who sponsored several District 4 and other checker tournament in the 80's.  He held the District 4 Open October 30th thru November 1st, 1987 in Statesville at the Ramada Inn on I-77 / US 70.
